Ingredients
Scale
Shrimp
- 8 oz shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- Salt and pepper to taste
- A pinch of red pepper flakes (optional)
Sandwich
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese (or any melting cheese)
- 4 slices of sourdough or thick-cut bread
- 1 tablespoon butter (for toasting)
- Fresh parsley, chopped (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
- Prepare the Shrimp: Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant. Add the shrimp, season with salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning, then cook for 3-4 minutes until the shrimp turn pink and are cooked through. Remove the skillet from heat and set shrimp aside.
- Assemble the Sandwich: Butter one side of each bread slice lightly. Place half of the shredded cheese on the unbuttered side of one bread slice. Layer the cooked shrimp evenly over the cheese, then add the remaining cheese on top. Cover with the second slice of bread, ensuring the buttered sides face outward.
- Grill the Sandwich: Preheat a skillet or griddle on medium heat. Place the sandwich in the skillet and cook for 3-4 minutes until the bottom side is golden brown and crispy, and the cheese begins to melt. Flip carefully and cook the other side for another 3-4 minutes until golden and the cheese is fully melted.
- Serve: Remove the sandwich from the skillet. Garnish with fresh chopped parsley and a pinch of red pepper flakes if desired. Serve immediately while hot and enjoy this flavorful shrimp and cheese grilled sandwich.
Notes
- You can substitute mozzarella with other melting cheeses such as cheddar or provolone for a different flavor.
- For a spicier sandwich, increase the amount of red pepper flakes or add a dash of hot sauce.
- Make sure not to overcook the shrimp to keep them tender and juicy.
- Use thick-cut bread for the best texture and to hold all the fillings securely.
