Description

A delicious and comforting Scrambled Egg Grilled Cheese Sandwich that combines fluffy scrambled eggs with melted cheese between buttery toasted bread. Perfect for a quick breakfast or a satisfying snack.

Ingredients

Scale

Sandwich Ingredients

  • 2 slices of bread (white, whole wheat, or sourdough)
  • 2 slices of cheese (cheddar, American, or your favorite cheese)
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter

Egg Mixture

  • 2 large eggs
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Optional Toppings

  • Hot sauce
  • Fresh herbs
  • Avocado
  • Bacon

Instructions

  1. Make the scrambled eggs: Crack the eggs into a bowl, then whisk them with a pinch of salt and pepper until fully combined.
  2. Heat the skillet and melt butter: Heat a nonstick skillet over medium-low heat and melt 1 tablespoon of butter.
  3. Cook the eggs: Pour the eggs into the skillet, and allow them to set slightly. Then, gently stir the eggs with a spatula until they form soft curds. Remove from heat when they’re just slightly underdone as they will continue to cook off heat.
  4. Prepare the sandwich assembly area: While the eggs cook, heat another skillet or griddle over medium heat.
  5. Butter the bread: Butter one side of each slice of bread with about 1 tablespoon of butter.
  6. Add cheese: Place the cheese slices between the unbuttered sides of the bread to form the sandwich.
  7. Grill the sandwich: Place the sandwiches buttered side down in the hot skillet. Grill for 2-3 minutes per side, or until the bread is golden and crispy and the cheese has melted.
  8. Add scrambled eggs to sandwich: Remove the sandwich from the skillet, open it slightly, and add the scrambled eggs. Then close the sandwich.
  9. Serve: Cut the sandwich in half and serve immediately. Optional sides include pickles, chips, or your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

  • You can customize the cheese and bread type to your preference.
  • Be careful to remove the eggs early from the heat to keep them soft and creamy.
  • Optional toppings like avocado or bacon add extra flavor and texture.
  • Use a nonstick skillet for easy cooking and flipping of eggs and sandwiches.
  • Serve hot for best taste and texture.
