Ingredients
Scale
Egg Mixture
- 8 large eggs
- ¼ cup heavy cream
- Salt & pepper, to taste
- 1 Tbsp butter
Sausage
- 12 sausage patties
Cheese
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese, divided
Rolls and Topping
- 1 (12-oz) package Hawaiian rolls
- 1 Tbsp maple syrup
- 2 Tbsp melted butter
Instructions
- Preheat Oven and Prepare Baking Dish: Preheat your oven to 350ºF (175ºC) and spray a 9×13-inch baking dish with nonstick cooking spray to prevent sticking.
- Whisk Egg Mixture: In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, heavy cream, and salt and pepper to taste until well combined.
- Scramble Eggs: Melt one tablespoon of butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Pour in the egg mixture and cook, stirring gently, until the eggs are fully scrambled and just set. Remove from heat and set aside.
- Cook Sausage Patties: In the same skillet, cook the sausage patties over medium-high heat until fully cooked and no longer pink inside. Drain on paper towels to remove excess grease, then set aside.
- Prepare Slider Base: Without separating the Hawaiian rolls, cut the entire loaf horizontally in half. Place the bottom half into the prepared 9×13-inch baking dish, forming the base for the sliders.
- Layer Ingredients: Sprinkle 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the bottom half of the rolls. Layer scrambled eggs evenly on top of the cheese, followed by the cooked sausage patties. Top with the remaining 1 cup of cheddar cheese, then place the top half of the rolls over the cheese layer.
- Brush with Maple Butter: In a small bowl, mix the melted butter with maple syrup. Brush this butter-maple mixture generously over the tops of the rolls to give them a sweet, glossy finish.
- Bake Sliders: Place the assembled sliders in the oven and bake for 15 to 20 minutes, or until the cheese has melted, the sliders are heated through, and the tops are slightly golden.
- Serve Warm: Remove the sliders from the oven, let them cool slightly, then slice between the rolls to separate individual sliders and serve warm.
Notes
- You can substitute the cheddar cheese with your favorite cheese like mozzarella or pepper jack for a different flavor.
- For a healthier option, use turkey sausage patties and whole grain rolls.
- Prepare the scrambled eggs and sausage ahead of time to speed up assembly in the morning.
- Leftover sliders can be wrapped tightly and refrigerated for up to 3 days; reheat in the oven to restore freshness.
- Feel free to add sautéed onions, bell peppers, or spinach for extra veggies.
