Ingredients
Scale
Brownie Batter
- 1 box yellow cake mix
- 4 large eggs
- 1 cup sour cream
- 3/4 cup vegetable oil
Cinnamon Sugar Swirl
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
Glaze
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2 tablespoons milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Prepare the oven and pan: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking pan to prevent the brownies from sticking.
- Mix the batter: In a large bowl, combine the yellow cake mix, eggs, sour cream, and vegetable oil. Stir until the mixture is smooth and well blended.
- Prepare the cinnamon-sugar mixture: In a small bowl, stir together the brown sugar and ground cinnamon until evenly mixed.
- Layer the batter and cinnamon sugar: Pour half of the batter into the prepared pan and spread it evenly. Sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture evenly over this layer.
- Add the remaining batter: Spoon the remaining batter on top of the cinnamon-sugar layer and carefully spread it to cover the entire surface.
- Create the swirl: Use a knife to gently swirl through the layers to create a marbled cinnamon effect throughout the batter.
- Bake the brownies: Place the pan in the preheated oven and bake for 35–40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Make the glaze: While the brownies are baking, whisk together the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract in a small bowl until smooth.
- Glaze the brownies: Once baked, allow the brownies to cool for about 10 minutes. Drizzle the glaze over the brownies while they are still warm for best absorption.
- Cool and serve: Let the brownies cool completely before slicing into 12 squares and serving.
Notes
- These brownies taste even better the next day as the flavors meld together.
- For extra decadence, add chopped pecans to the cinnamon-sugar layer before adding the top batter.
- You can also add a drizzle of honey to the glaze for a richer flavor.
