Ingredients
Scale
Main Ingredients
- 1 (14 oz) package golden Oreos
- 6 oz cream cheese, softened
- Green gel food coloring, a few drops
- 1/2 teaspoon peppermint extract (optional)
Coating and Decorations
- 10 oz white chocolate or white candy melts
- Red heart sprinkles
- Green sanding sugar or sprinkles (optional)
Instructions
- Prepare Oreo Crumbs: Place the golden Oreos in a food processor and pulse until they become fine crumbs, which will form the base of your truffles.
- Mix with Cream Cheese and Color: Add the softened cream cheese, peppermint extract if using, and a few drops of green gel food coloring to the Oreo crumbs. Pulse until the mixture is fully combined and reaches a dough-like consistency.
- Form Truffle Balls: Scoop tablespoon-sized portions of the mixture and roll them into balls. Place these onto a parchment-lined baking sheet and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to firm up.
- Melt White Chocolate: While the truffles chill, melt the white chocolate or candy melts in a microwave-safe bowl by heating in 30-second intervals, stirring thoroughly between intervals until smooth and fully melted.
- Dip and Decorate: Dip each chilled truffle into the melted white chocolate, using a fork to lift it out and letting the excess drip off. Place the coated truffles back on the baking sheet and immediately top each with a red heart sprinkle. Optionally, sprinkle green sanding sugar or sprinkles over them.
- Set Coating: Chill the coated truffles in the refrigerator for about 15 minutes or until the white chocolate coating is fully set.
- Serve: Serve these festive truffles chilled or at room temperature for a delicious holiday treat.
Notes
- Use gel food coloring for the most vibrant and even green color on the truffle mixture.
- Store truffles in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days to maintain freshness.
- For longer storage, freeze the truffles for up to 1 month; thaw before serving.
