Description

This Garlic Parmesan Chicken Casserole is a comforting and flavorful dish combining tender cooked chicken with a creamy garlic and herb sauce, topped with a crispy parmesan and crouton crust. It’s a simple and satisfying meal perfect for weeknight dinners.

Ingredients

Scale

Chicken Mixture

  • 4 cups cooked chopped chicken
  • 1 packet Lipton Savory Herb with Garlic Soup & Dip Mix
  • ½ cup grated parmesan cheese, divided
  • 1½ cups sour cream
  • 1 (10.5-oz) can unsalted cream of chicken soup

Topping

  • 1½ cups crushed croutons
  • Remaining ¼ cup grated parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat and prepare: Preheat your oven to 350ºF (175ºC). Lightly spray a 9×9-inch baking dish with cooking spray to prevent sticking.
  2. Mix chicken and sauce: In a large bowl, combine the cooked chopped chicken, Lipton Savory Herb with Garlic Soup & Dip Mix, sour cream, unsalted cream of chicken soup, and ¼ cup of grated parmesan cheese. Stir until everything is well incorporated.
  3. Assemble casserole: Spread the chicken mixture evenly into the prepared baking dish, smoothing the top with a spatula.
  4. Add topping: In a small bowl, mix the crushed croutons with the remaining ¼ cup of grated parmesan cheese. Sprinkle this mixture evenly over the chicken layer in the dish.
  5. Bake: Place the casserole uncovered in the preheated oven and bake for 30 to 40 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the casserole is heated through.

Notes

  • You can substitute cooked shredded turkey for the chicken for a different flavor variation.
  • If you prefer a less creamy casserole, reduce the sour cream quantity by ¼ cup.
  • For a gluten-free version, use gluten-free croutons and soup mixes.
  • Let the casserole rest for 5 minutes after baking to help it set for easier serving.
  • Adding a handful of chopped fresh parsley on top before serving adds a fresh color and flavor boost.
