Description

These Garlic Miso Chicken Thighs are tender, juicy, and packed with umami-rich flavors from miso paste, soy sauce, and garlic. Cooked to crispy perfection in the air fryer, this easy 30-minute recipe delivers a savory, slightly sweet, and tangy chicken dish that’s perfect for a quick weeknight dinner.

Ingredients

Scale

Chicken

  • 4 bone-in, skin-on chicken thighs

Marinade

  • 2 tbsp miso paste
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tbsp olive oil

Instructions

  1. Preheat the air fryer: Set your air fryer to 375°F (190°C) and allow it to come to temperature while you prepare the chicken. This ensures even cooking and crispy skin.
  2. Make the marinade: In a medium bowl, whisk together miso paste, soy sauce, honey, minced garlic, rice vinegar, and olive oil until smooth and well combined. This mixture will infuse the chicken with a savory and slightly sweet flavor.
  3. Coat the chicken: Add the chicken thighs to the bowl and use your hands or a brush to make sure each piece is thoroughly coated with the marinade. Let it sit for a few minutes to absorb the flavors.
  4. Air fry the chicken: Place the chicken thighs skin-side down in the air fryer basket. Cook for 10-12 minutes, then flip the chicken to skin-side up and continue cooking for another 10-13 minutes or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C) and the skin is golden brown and crispy.
  5. Serve: Remove the chicken thighs from the air fryer and let them rest for a couple of minutes. Serve hot alongside your favorite sides such as steamed rice or vegetables for a complete meal.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, marinate the chicken for 30 minutes or up to overnight in the refrigerator before cooking.
  • If you don’t have an air fryer, you can bake the chicken thighs at 400°F (200°C) for 35-40 minutes, flipping halfway through.
  • Ensure the chicken is cooked through by checking the internal temperature with a meat thermometer.
  • Adjust the honey amount for more or less sweetness based on your taste preference.
