Ingredients

Scale

Filling

  • 2 cups cooked chopped chicken
  • ½ cup sour cream French onion dip
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1¼ cup French fried onions (divided)

Other Ingredients

  • 1 (10.5-oz) can Unsalted Cream of Chicken Soup
  • ½ cup milk
  • 2 cans refrigerated crescent rolls:
    • 1 (8-oz) can (8-count)
    • 1 (4-oz) can (4-count)
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven: Preheat your oven to 350ºF (175ºC) and lightly spray a 9×13-inch baking dish with cooking spray to prevent sticking.
  2. Mix filling: In a bowl, combine the cooked chopped chicken, sour cream French onion dip, 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese, and 1 cup French fried onions. Season with salt and pepper if desired.
  3. Prepare crescent rolls: Separate the crescent roll dough into 12 triangles. Spoon the chicken mixture onto the wider end of each triangle.
  4. Roll crescent rolls: Roll up each triangle starting from the wide end to encase the filling and place the roll-ups seam side down in the prepared baking dish.
  5. Initial bake: Place the baking dish in the oven and bake the roll ups for 10 minutes to set the dough.
  6. Make sauce: While the rolls bake, mix together the cream of chicken soup and milk until smooth. Remove the dish from the oven after 10 minutes and pour the soup mixture evenly over the roll ups.
  7. Add toppings and bake again: Sprinkle the remaining shredded cheddar cheese and the remaining ¼ cup of French fried onions evenly over the top. Return the dish to the oven and bake for an additional 25 to 30 minutes, until bubbly and golden brown on top.

Notes

  • Use cooked chicken from a rotisserie or leftovers for convenience.
  • You can substitute sour cream dip with ranch or other creamy onion dips if preferred.
  • For extra crispiness, add the fried onions during the last 10 minutes of baking instead of at the beginning.
  • Feel free to add herbs such as thyme or parsley to the chicken mixture for added flavor.
  • Make sure to watch the crescent rolls near the end of baking to avoid over-browning.
