Description

This Crispy Oven-Roasted Cauliflower recipe is a simple yet flavorful way to enjoy cauliflower with a crunchy texture and bold seasoning. Roasted at a high temperature, the cauliflower florets develop a golden crust infused with garlic, paprika, and optional cayenne for a touch of heat, making it a perfect healthy side dish or snack.

Ingredients

Scale

Cauliflower

  • 1.5 lbs Cauliflower, washed and cut into 3-inch pieces

Seasonings

  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tbsp kosher salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper (optional)

Oil

  • 1/2 cup olive oil, divided

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C) and place an empty baking sheet inside to heat up as well. This ensures better crisping when the cauliflower is added.
  2. Prepare Cauliflower: Cut or rip the cauliflower into 3-inch florets, making sure each piece has a flat side. This flat surface helps achieve a nicely browned and crispy crust during roasting.
  3. Season: In a large bowl, combine the cauliflower florets with 1/4 cup of olive oil, kosher salt, black pepper, garlic powder, paprika, and cayenne pepper if using. Toss well to coat each piece evenly with the seasoning and oil.
  4. Prep Baking Sheet: Carefully remove the preheated baking sheet from the oven and drizzle the remaining 1/4 cup of olive oil onto it. Spread the cauliflower florets on the sheet with the flat sides down to maximize browning.
  5. Roast Cauliflower: Roast the cauliflower in the oven for 25 to 30 minutes at 450°F. Flip the florets halfway through the cooking time to ensure even crisping and golden edges all around. Once done, the cauliflower should be tender inside and beautifully crispy outside.

Notes

  • Preheating the baking sheet is key for achieving a crispy crust on the cauliflower.
  • The flat side of the florets should be placed down when roasting for better browning.
  • Cayenne pepper is optional and adds a subtle spicy kick.
  • Use kosher salt for better control over seasoning and flavor.
  • Olive oil helps in crisping and adds a rich flavor.
